Your IBT girls love to pamper themselves, especially at the nail salon. Nothing makes you feel more girly or put to together then having freshly manicured nails, am I right?! Today on the blog, we’re sharing our new favorite manicure inspiration styles for you to show your nail tech at your next appointment. These styles work with all nail shapes and types of polish. Gel, dip powder, acrylic or regular nail polish – there are endless options! Do a fun new shape or try a bold color this month. Who knows, you just might fall in love with something new!

Glazed Donut

We are in love with this neutral shade. Some nail techs call it ‘glazed donut’, some call it ‘chrome’. Whatever the case, it turns out stunning every time. You can do a a very light neutral color as your base, (light pink, off white/white), and then, they’ll work their magic by rubbing a super fine glitter over the top for a ‘glazed/chrome’ look. It’s a really cool process!

I once did a maroon shade under neath, with ‘silver chrome’ on top and it was gorgeous! The possibilities are endless with this one. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

French Tip

You can’t go wrong with the classic french tip, but what we love most is how versatile the look can be depending on the shape, color, or style you choose! Change up this classic style with a colored tip, OR do an ‘ombre french tip’ style with a dipping powder (only certain nail techs know how to do this).

More Inspiration For You

We hope you found some new and fun manicure inspiration for your next nail appointment! Will you go bold with a new shape or color, or will you stay classy and elegant with something simple? No matter what, we’re excited you found us and feel inspired by what we love. Don’t forget to follow us on social media for your daily inspiration!

Dear mama, we see you. We know that you’re exhausted and haven’t taken time for yourself in a while. Make yourself a fresh cup of coffee, put your feet up, and relax while you browse through this amazing feature. The inspiration behind ‘mama, we love you a latte’ is heartening, classy and indulging. The nude color palette with hints of blush give off a restful and cozy vibe. The magnificent balloon garlands elevate the celebration. Scroll on to see all of the elements this party has to offer.

The planner shares,

“A lot of mamas are fueled by coffee. Sometimes it’s cold old coffee that we left out, but nevertheless, coffee. As a mother and small business owner myself, I am constantly juggling the millions of things on my to-do list, while trying to prioritize my children and their needs. I wanted to pay tribute to all of the amazing mother’s, aka superheroes, who put everyone else’s needs before their own. We know that they hardly complain or ask for anything in return, which is why the ‘Mama, we love you a latte’ was the perfect theme.”

The planner continues,

“The set up for this event was a mission. It was raining the week of, so we had to change the date to the one day it wasn’t suppose to rain. To our surprise, it rained the morning of. So, we had to wait for the rain to surpass before load-in. We were greeted by muddy grass and cloudy skies. There was mud everywhere : on our bottoms, our shoes, the balloons, equipment. Everything had mud on it! It even started raining in the middle of our installation! I remember looking at each other, shrugging our shoulders and saying, “Oh well, it is what it is, let’s keep going!” And that’s just what we did! We were racing against time, but we made it! We literally finished right before the sun went down, and we are so happy with the outcome. With determination, an amazing team, and the “never give up” spirit, we were able to create magic together! I am so proud of this team!”

Are you planning on hosting a Mother’s Day event? We have the perfect inspiration for you! Including : a Spring daisy brunch, a Mother’s Day garden party, and a Mother’s Day picnic.

If you’re reading this chances are your baby just hit or is about to hit 6 months of age! Whether you’re starting with purees, following “baby-led weaning” or doing a combination of the two, there are 5 essentials every parent needs to make this transition to solid food as seamless as possible.

Bibs

This may be a “duh” thing – but after leading several kids through this transition to solid food we’ve figured out which bibs are best. Our main tip – avoid cloth bibs! Babies are messy. And we mean really messy. So unless you want to be washing bibs every day we recommend using silicon or leather bibs that you can easily rinse or wipe clean. Bonus if it has a pocket at the bottom to catch all the chunks, drips, and crumbs that will otherwise smash themselves into your baby’s pants. Our favorites are from Mushie and Gathre: silicon – check, pocket – check, adjustable neck sizes – check, cute prints, and colors – check.

Pouches

You may have every intention of making homemade solid food for your baby (we did!) but the truth is life happens and sometimes meals happen on the go or schedules are tailspin out of control. It’s a good idea to have a backup plan when it comes to feeding your baby! We always keep a stash of pouches or jars of food for our little ones. Our favorite brand is Serenity Kids – their pouches and puffs are crammed full of nutrition growing babies need. They also don’t use fruit which is great for savory food exposure as you’ll soon find every other baby food has fruit included. Other favorites include Once Upon a Farm and Cerebelly!

Sippy Cup

When a baby starts solids, they also start taking sips of water. Our checklist included – cups that weren’t too heavy and tough for small babes to live on, had handles for easy gripping, and weren’t plastic. We landed on the Haakaa silicone sippy cup (bonus, it can also be a snack cup!) for our small babes and love this stainless steel option by Thinkbaby that can also transition to a straw lid. When your baby is old enough to know how to sip from a cup, we recommend the Munchkin Miracle cup because it’s the only genuinely spill-proof cup we’ve tried!

High Chair

High chairs are a godsend when starting a baby on food. It gives you a place to contain them, an easily cleanable surface and helps keep you and your clothes free from baby food! Trust us when we say there are so. many. options. to choose from and there is certainly no right or wrong answer! Because babies are in high chairs for such a short amount of time we chose a chair that was able to grow with our babies. Pieces can be removed as they get bigger to become a toddler chair. This made us feel like we were making more of a long-term investment! Our favorites are by Stokke – the Steps chair and the Tripp Trapp chair both transition, and are beautiful! For a budget-friendly option that gets the job done – this one by Ikea is your best bet. We also recommend this travel high chair if you enjoy meals on the go. And bonus – it folds up small enough to fit into a suit case!

Disposable Placemats & Bibs

Whether you’re an always-on-the-go mom keeping up with multiple kids or a busy career or more of a hang-at-home mom working hard to keep your babe in a routine (both are great, btw) meals on the go will happen. After a few stained onesies and broken restaurant plates, we learned it’s best to be prepared. Once our babes started solids we always had in our diaper bags disposable bibs and placemats. Trust us when we say both are necessary for meals at restaurants or even friends/grandparents house where highchairs aren’t present and you want to protect the table. We found these cute bibs and placemats off Amazon, but there are lots of choices to choose from! Even if you don’t have plans to be out, trust us and grab these now so you have them on hand when the time comes.

You might assume that after having 2 kids you’d have all the gear and product needed for a third… but the truth is, that 3rd baby changes everything! Instead of quiet mornings of coffee and cuddles on the couch with a newborn, you’re facing an entire day of endless multitasking in addition to all that newborn care. Our biggest tip? Invest in products that offer mobility, since chances are the moment you settle on the couch to feed baby, your toddler is going to need the potty. Or a snack. Or will choose that time to climb to the top of your entertainment center. Flexibility and mobility are the key to surviving the transition from 2 to 3. Take a look below at some of our tried and true lifesaving products on our prep list for baby #3!

Coterie Diapers and Wipes on our Prep List with Baby #3

After 4+ years of diaper changing and trying virtually every brand of diaper and wipe on the market we’ve found *the one*. First, they offer subscription services! Read: diapers show up at your front door when you need them. No more 10 pm emergency grocery runs because you didn’t realize you were almost out. Automating what you can is game-changing with baby #3! We also love these diapers because they do the research for you – they’re 3rd party to ensure harsh chemicals and irritants are never included.

They’re the most absorbent diaper we’ve ever used, so much so we can just use the same diaper for nighttime! And because they absorb so well it has helped cut down on diaper rash. Now for their wipes… they are the largest and most dense wipes on the market!! I mean, if that doesn’t make you want them do you even have kids?! We kid… but really, they are made of 99% water, fully compostable in a few weeks (vs. the years other wipes take), and are the first to be certified by our favorite clean-living resource the Environmental Working Group. And did we mention they deliver??

Ergobaby Carrier

Babywearing is life. Repeat, babywearing is life. If there’s ever a time to invest in a quality carrier, it’s now because chances are your new baby will spend almost all of your waking hours snuggled up close to you and keeping your hands free. We’ve tried a lot of carriers over the years, and have landed on our 2 favorites – Omni Breeze and Embrace. We love that the Omni is an all-in-one that can be adjusted from newborn to toddlerhood. Anyone who has experienced hours of babywearing also knows that having a carrier that breathes is key. Two bodies pressed against each other can get pretty sweaty, y’all!

It also offers forward-facing capability, which is absolutely key for when your newborn baby becomes a curious baby. We also love the Embrace by Ergo, which combines the coziness of a soft wrap with the simplicity and comfort of a structured carrier. When you need to get your baby close and cozy quickly (AKA: one of your toddlers needs you ASAP) this is what we reach for because it doesn’t require any wrapping or tying.

Veer Cruiser on our Prep List with Baby #3

By now you’ve made an investment in a stroller or double stroller, and thankfully most can last you through the years! But we have a new hack for you – a wagon! With older kids chances are you’ll be going on more adventures (picnics, pumpkin patches, beach days, etc) and bringing your newborn along for the ride. We love the versatility the wagon offers – it’s all-terrain with wheels that can handle sand and off-roading, it can be pushed or pulled, older kids can easily climb in and out on their own, and it comes with adaptors that you can easily plug your infant car seat into. Bonus: it weighs less than most double strollers! Perfect for hauling around a gaggle of kids.

Elvie Pump

If breastfeeding is in your mom-life plan, chances are so is pumping. We are SO excited that in between our 2nd and 3rd babes Elvie has come out with a hands-free pump! Anyone who has had to sit and pump knows how game-changing being hands-free and mobile during this tedious process is. Its quiet and sleek design means it fits right into your bra and can be worn while playing with your kids at the park, feeding your toddler dinner, working at your desk, making snacks/packing lunches and so on. It also comes with smart app capabilities so you can control and track everything from your phone.  And in even more exciting news, TODAY Elvie has launched the Elvie Stride pump available through insurance, making this magic gadget available to even more moms.

Snuggle Me Lounger and Feeding Pillow

In case you haven’t noticed a theme here, we love products that are mobile and can move around with a baby. There will be times when you need to put the baby down, and having a portable lounger is key! Cart it from your toddlers’ room to the kitchen, even outside! This way your baby always has a cuddly place to lounge or work on tummy time. A feeding pillow is another essential and Snuggle Me is our fave! The narrow ends allow it to fit more comfortably while nursing, plus we can use this pillow for tummy time or sitting up support. All Snuggle Me products are made with organic fabric… not to mention are super chic!

Little Unicorn Diaper Bag Backpack on our Prep List with Baby #3

Friend, if you haven’t already made the switch to a backpack diaper bag, with baby #3 on the way – now is the time! We are so so so thankful stylish companies like The Little Unicorn have added backpacks to the repertoire! Trust us, when you’re at the park, the grocery store, the airport, etc and have a baby strapped to you plus two toddler hands to hold – you want all your baby necessities securely out of the way! This backpack was made for moms – two sizable compartments, lots of pockets, padded shoulder straps, the inside and outside are easy to wipe clean and all without sacrificing style.

Still on baby #2? Well, don’t worry we have rounded up all of our favorite items on our prep list with baby #2!

You know the saying, “work and life don’t mix” or “work-life balance is an illusion”, well we are sitting here listening to these statements and choosing to run in the opposite direction. Today on the blog we are discussing how these mom entrepreneurs balance work & life. We could go on and explain why you need to give this a scroll, but honestly, if the title drew you in, there’s nothing we could say that would be more valuable than what these 12 mom entrepreneurs are sharing. Are you ready to pull the curtain back on how these tastemakers are juggling both their home & work lives?! Without further ado…

Event Planner: Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design
Photographer: Emily Millay Photography

A Reliable Support System is Key

“Having a team of other wonderful professionals is definitely a blessing so that you can rely on each other for advice, time off and support! Make sure you have good childcare set up for specific times that you will need to focus on work. With the flexibility of working for yourself comes the temptation to try to do it all at the same time, doing that will just cause you unneeded stress and you will definitely be happier overall in both aspects.” – Valarie Falvey, Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design

“For me personally, it is all made possible by a supportive spouse, a reliable sitter, and a village made of both family and friends who love us and help us out as needed. Getting a daily workout in is key to me. I wake up before anyone is up and sweat without distractions to clear my mind and start my day with positivity.” – Nora Sheils, Founder Bridal Bliss + Rock Paper Coin

“Constant exhaustion, guilt (both as a mom and business owner), and feelings of inadequacy are things I struggle with daily. Feeling like I’m missing precious moments at home, or feeling frustrated that I don’t have more time and focus for work tasks (or even time to myself) is a huge challenge. The only thing that has gotten me through this is an incredible support system both at home and at work. And a lot of wine.” Gillian Segal of Gillian Segal Design

Setting Strict Boundaries

“Whatever is directly in front of you, needs to get 100% of your attention. So, when I’m blocking out my day, if I have an hour dedicated to nothing but emails, that’s what I do. I ensure to dedicate the afternoon for my boys. So that way, 100% of my attention is dedicated to us playing outside, watching my son’s baseball game, or have a tickle war with my youngest. While I’m not a master of this yet, it has truly allowed me to schedule my day to ensure I have enough time for work and Mom life with my kiddos!” – Krisy Thomas, Southern Sparkle Wedding Planning

“One tip to balance all the details is to add your office hours to your email signature. This helps remind not only my clients, but also myself of the hours where my clients come first and creates expectations of when they will hear back. I designate my office hours to be while my children are at school and block off my evenings and Sundays for my family.” – Karese, Owner of Detailed Floral Design

Prioritizing Self Care

“My biggest suggestion is to make time for you! Keep at least one day off each week, two if you can! If I have a free weekend with no weddings or meetings, I take it off. We are human and need time to regroup and reset.” – Jamie, Owner of Cape Cod Celebrations

“Learning to take care of yourself is not something that comes naturally to most mothers. Being a mom, after all, means putting the needs of your children first. Today I am going to help shift your mindset on how you view self-care. Specifically, why prioritizing your self-care is actually going to serve your children, your employee’s and everyone that counts on you. We all know the saying, “you can’t pour from an empty bucket”. Well, I bring this up because I want to challenge you to think about your self-care differently. Think of it as a way to actually serve your people. After all, if you are feeling miserable or stressed, how valuable is your presence anyways?

Now that we have that established, let’s chat about self-care practices. When I refer to self-care I am not talking about giving yourself 5, or even 10 minutes to scroll Instagram. Nope. I am talking about filling your bucket with what gives you life. Whatever that may look like for you. For me, it’s listening to worship music, journaling, reading, and moving my body. Now I know an idea just popped in your mind on something you want to do. Whatever that may be, try it out tomorrow morning. Set aside 20 minutes to do what you need to do to fuel your soul, I promise you the results will shock you!” – Leila Lewis, Founder of Be Inspired PR, Inspired by This (oh, hey), and The Social Remodel

“My advice for all moms is to give up the guilt. Some days won’t be perfect, some days you will miss dinners and maybe they’ll watch too much TV! Don’t beat yourself up – you are showing your children that anything can be achieved, and to do what you love takes bravery, hard work, and sometimes sacrifice. Believe me – they are watching!” – Lilia Shatnaya, Owner of Plume and Stone Invitation studio, Founder of Russian American Weddings and Parties, and Co-founder of Style the Aisle Soiree

Find What Works for You

“Being a momtrepreneur is hard! After attempting to balance work and family responsibilities for nearly a decade, I’ve learned that it’s more of an evolution than a balance. Inevitably, your kids’ needs, and the needs of your clients, will change – frequently. I think it’s important to be OK with that fact and don’t let changes (unexpected or otherwise) get the best of you. Being flexible is key.” – Brooke Avishay of Orange Blossom Special Events

“If you’re like me, you are probably struggling how to wrangle all of your kids toys, crafts, and school supplies while everyone is at home during quarantine. (Um hello- I want my dining table back!) A few weeks ago, when I had just about had it, I decided to create a (cheap + cheerful) storage system for my five year old daughter for all of the toys and crafts she uses the most. If you are ready to get organized in your kids’ spaces, here are a few of my tips and tricks to creating organization systems that will set you up for success:

(1) Keep it Low. If you expect them to be able to play on their own, then make sure everything is at arm’s length. Of course, I wanted to make a fancy built-in piece but then she wouldn’t be able to reach any of it! (2) Sort + Separate. Separate toys by category and label the bins. I used those super simple black wooden tags and labeled them with a chalk pen. (3) Keep the Bins Small and Light. I went with knit coil bins with leather handles from Target and they are light and easy to lift. (4) At Night EVERYTHING Goes Back. That’s right. Back into its designated bin, and then back into the shelf- and just like that the toys are ALL in her room and not all over the rest of the house where you can step on a rogue lego in the middle of the night.” – Kate Lester of Kate Lester Interiors

Getting Real & Honest

“Whatever this looks like for you. Talk to people who will be open and real with you about their experiences. I’m not going to lie, labour and the first few months after my first were a real shock. I felt almost mad that the world (social media especially) presents motherhood as being this magical idyllic experience. And yes, it’s magical, but nobody told me my baby wouldn’t be the only one coming home in a diaper. I think women need to speak more openly and honestly about the struggles of motherhood.” Gillian Segal of Gillian Segal Design

“I was a stay-at-home mom for five years who always had a passion for design. I thought I had to choose between being there for my kids and pursuing my passion but I eventually realized I could do both! I was gifted a vintage sewing machine from my Grandma Elsie and had been making pillows for my own home. A good friend and old coworker of mine had seen how driven I was and knew my potential and asked me one day if what I was doing was enough for me. No one had ever asked me that question and when I got honest with myself, I realized my answer was no. I wanted more and I was the only one who could make that happen for myself. As a stay at home for many years, I really dedicated my life to my kids and didn’t spend much time filling my own cup. Once I gave myself permission to do that, there was no stopping me.” – Lauren Meichtry of Elsie Home

It’s not very often that we can get a glimpse into the magic that it is to be a mother. We often hear stories about what it is like, but any momma will tell you that the stories don’t do the rewarding and beautiful experience justice. That being said, we are so excited to be sharing this picnic in the Almond Orchards celebrating motherhood, because in our opinions these images are as close as it gets to depicting the essence of motherhood! We hope you enjoy this gorgeous Picnic in the Almond Orchards as much as we do, and hey, maybe this will inspire you to give your mama a call and check up on her!

Caitlin Alohilani Photography shares,

Drawn to the magical essence of the almond orchards, which only bloom for a fleeting period each year, we set out to Bakersfield for a magical afternoon. Celebrating the beauty of motherhood with two sets of mamas + daughters, we aimed to depict the special bond in the most romantic, heartfelt, in a timeless way. Florals by Blooms by Melly popped against the almost winter-like backdrop of the petal-lined rows of the orchards, while the picnic setup was beautifully designed by Hygge Picnic Co. Borrowed Blu inventory adorned the low table, and sweet treats from Sweet Songbird Bakery put a smile on everyone’s faces. The stunning new fashion line by LAIT Collection was the perfect compliment for the setting.

If you’re not familiar with sensory bins, it’s time to get involved! A sensory bin or sensory box is typically a container filled with carefully selected objects and materials to stimulate your toddler’s senses. Your little one can interact with unique objects, specifically designed to stimulate one of the five senses: Sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. You can DIY your own sensory bins at home, or you can purchase pre-made ones in the cutest themes and designs. Here are 5 reasons to start using sensory bins with your young toddlers!

01. Sensory bins allow your child to explore their senses without having to leave home.

Sensory boxes don’t take up a lot of space, so they’re perfect for at-home play. Your toddler will be able to experience new materials, smells, and textures in a way that still feels like they’re just playing with a toy! It’s educational and easy, therefore a win, win for parents! Common materials that are used in sensory bins include dry pasta, pom poms, shredded paper, sand, figurines, colored rice, buttons, and more.

02. They’re great at entertaining toddlers for long periods of time.

If you have a toddler, you’re probably familiar with them moving on from one activity to the next at a rapid pace. As a parent, it can be difficult to keep up! A sensory bin or sensory box will keep them entertained for longer chunks of time. Some parents even report their child engaging in hours of independent play with a sensory box. You’re welcome!

03. Sensory bins can help your toddlers start to develop language and fine motor skills.

Your child will build their language skills through describing their play experience. Ask them questions about the items they’re playing with and engage with them during and after the sensory experience to help them develop communication skills. They’ll also be improving their fine motor skills by playing with and manipulating small objects!

04. They can help your child develop their imagination skills.

With so much creative variety available in different sensory bins, your child will be able to get creative and work on their imagination skills! Think of imagination as a muscle – Working your child’s imagination will only make it stronger!
