There’s nothing like beautiful light to celebrate the coming of an even more beautiful life! The setting of this golden hour maternity shoot is stunning. San Clemente State Beach was the perfect choice for this shoot. Each detail of the background and poses are so thought out. The love between these two, and the love they have for their new addition, is evident. Using golden hour promotes the same sense of new beginnings that every new parent is feeling.

Brooke Taylor of Claud Nine Photography tells us all about this lovely golden hour maternity shoot,

I have had the privilege of photographing many of Yasmin & Nolan’s special life moments! I captured their engagement, wedding, pregnancy announcement, and now their maternity session! We shot at San Clemente State Beach at sunset. We chose this spot because we could not only shoot in front of the water but also greenery and unique beachside cliffs. Everyone loved how the scenery complimented their outfits.

The soon-to-be mama got her degree in Fashion Merchandising, so she thoroughly enjoyed putting together the outfits! The beautiful peach-toned maxi dress was found on Amazon Fashion! Her dainty gold jewelry (which has baby girl’s birth month flower on it) is from GLDN. The dad-to-be is wearing all American Eagle Outfitters.

Romantic Maternity Shoot with Hints of Lavender

What happens when a planner, plans her own maternity shoot?! We are so glad you asked. Perfection is the result, and today’s romantic maternity shoot is a testament to our theory! This talented mama to be, Stephanie with SRS Events, designed a gorgeous day full of sunshine and the most romantic moments with her husband. Stephanie rocked a gorgeous lavender ethereal dress that perfectly complemented her timeless decor choices. We have to say, this romantic maternity shoot with hints of Lavender might be exactly what our souls needed to feel inspired. Scroll on to see every last detail!

Inspired by the soft romanticness of great marsh estate, the mother-to-be chose a lavender ethereal dress from pink blush maternity. A complimentary lilac and blush pink bouquet and flower crown from eight tree street floral completed the look. A cutting cake from sweets by e revealed the pink inside of their baby girl and was topped with a few peonies and oh Baby cake topper. A pink petal toss completed the session of the couple’s excitement of welcoming their baby girl this fall.

This Porch-trait Maternity Shoot Embraces Joy in Uncertainty

The coronavirus has affected so many people, in so many different ways. It feels like every day we hear another story about plans being canceled or postponed, and a common thread throughout these difficult situations is negativity. We like to choose to look for the bright side of a situation. Today on the blog we are sharing a story that does just that and will be sure to lift your spirits. We have had the pleasure of sharing some of Whitney’s most special moments on the blog, from her firstborns baby shower to her first birthday. When Whitney shared the news with us that she has a porch-trait maternity shoot for her 2nd baby on the way to share with us that embraces joy in uncertainty, we knew we had to share with you all. This story not only focuses on the most important element of life, which is love, it also happens to feature her whole adorable family as they prepare for their new precious addition, in this sweet porch-trait maternity shoot!

From the mama, Whitney:

I’m thrilled to share this maternity shoot with the IBT readers in hopes that moms everywhere who are pregnant during this pandemic can keep their heads held up high and not have to forgo these super special memorable moments. Once we found out we were pregnant with our second child, my mind went into full-blown planning mode – how to decorate the newest little bundle’s nursery, my birth plan, lists upon lists of names, and, of course, working on a beautiful maternity shoot to capture this wonderful time in our lives! I knew this would be the last time we were professionally photographed as a family of 3 – and I wanted to savor every moment with my firstborn being an only child – and making her feel like a special big sister to be.

I had reached out to the photographer who did my initial maternity shoot and got to work dreaming up the mood and vision boards for the styled shoot – what outfits to wear, how we’d coordinate, and where the shoot would take place. We were set to take these photos at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and even had purchased a photography permit for the Spring. Oh, how the flowers and plants would be so beautiful and in full bloom! Then, the horrific Covid-19 pandemic hit.

My husband, almost 3-year-old daughter Sienna Isla and my pregnant self fled our New York City apartment and left to S. Florida, where we’d quarantine for 2 weeks and then move in with my in-laws. We started Zoom homeschooling, braved the horrid Florida heat while my pregnant belly grew, and started seeing new doctors, unsure as to where we would deliver this new bundle of joy – uprooting all of the plans for baby #2 that we had once put in place. I longed to take the maternity photos that I had worked so hard to plan – but knew that we would have to socially distance from the photographer – if it was even safe to so do – and I had to get to work quick finding someone to take these pictures (thank goodness these “porch-trait” sessions were all the rage and I was able to find the magical Oona, owner of Isla Charm Photographer), who would be able to capture not only my vision for the photos but my now burgeoning belly that was growing by the minute.

I had tons of special items ordered for these photos – bespoke flowers (the small business stopped operating from when I first contacted them to the shoot), a dream catcher, poufs, pillows, and blankets – all of which were delayed due to COVID and didn’t make it on time (including my husband’s outfits – since he didn’t pack anything but athletic wear when we left NYC). At the end of the day, it wasn’t these little things that mattered, but the love shared between our growing family – that we’ll treasure forever. Big sister Sienna was certainly the center of attention and now that her brother Slade Hudson has arrived, she’s the best big sister ever!

Historic Charleston Romantic Maternity Session

Hey y’all – we’re taking you to historic Charleston today for a romantic maternity session that is oh so sweet! Clay and Jessie’s babymoon included this gorgeous maternity shoot in downtown Charleston and we’re obsessed. Talk about natural beauty! This day captured the organic beauty Charleston has to offer, and perfectly represents this couple’s personality. There was a true glow to this light and bright day – scroll down to see all of our favorite moments!

The photographer shares:

Clay and Jessie traveled all the way from Chicago and had planned a week on Kiawah Island for their babymoon. While in the area, we had planned a beautiful maternity session downtown Charleston, but Clay had a different idea and wanted to propose! We first started talking about proposing during the maternity session, but once Clay was here and had the ring burning in his pocket, he didn’t want to wait another second! The next evening, we captured their amazing beach proposal and the rest is history.

A few days later we met for their planned sunrise session at Hampton Park. Jessie was just glowing! Don’t get us wrong, her gorgeous right out of the spa and sunburn belly look for her proposal was adorable, but she arrived with her hair and makeup done by Contours & Curls, and she looked like a model! Oh my goodness!

We had so much fun with these two, even though it was before 8:00am in the morning. The breathtaking light, the dreamy mossy trees, and excitement from these two parents-to-be, made for such a beautiful session! A few weeks later we received the text we had all been waiting for… he’s here! We’re SO EXCITED for them and cannot wait to meet their new little man!

Three Bump Friendly Outfit Ideas

The mantra of almost every mama-to-be we’ve met has been “No pants no problem!” While this definitely is the most comfortable option during the time of a woman’s life when little to nothing is comfortable, it isn’t necessarily acceptable in public. So unless you live in a nudist colony or a private island, you’ve got to dress that bump up! We came up with three bump-friendly outfit ideas for the days when you want to look your best, even though you may not feel it!

The Trailblazer Mom-to-Be

Okay, so we all know the staples of expectant mothers everywhere: a maxi dress. It is comfortable and flattering, but it can start feeling a bit overdone when you’ve worn it for the umpteenth time. The solution? An oversized blazer to save the day! It will automatically make your ‘fit look infinitely chicer. It’s still got all the comfort of your tried and true maxi, only with a little more warmth. You can even wear it again after baby! Let’s all agree to never let the oversized trend die so we can get all the wear out of our maternity clothes during every stage of life!

The Overall Fashionable Mom-to-Be

Overalls speak to us for so many reasons. You can wear them just about anywhere. Running errands? Yes. Going out with friends? Painting a nursery during your nesting frenzy? Also yes! You can dress them up with a cute blouse or sweater underneath, or you can dress them down with a soft T-shirt underneath (because soft is so important). And when your little bundle of joy enters this world, get them a matching pair and you’ll be #momgoals for sure!

One of the key virtues of maternity clothing is versatility. Your body is experiencing a lot of beautiful changes, and your clothes need to be there for all of them! Thus, the beauty of the wrap dress. They are adjustable and just as fashionable as they are flattering. I mean, if Kate Middleton has them as a staple in her wardrobe, then they certainly are good enough for anyone!

So set some time aside in between doctor’s appointments, showers, naps and putting together baby furniture to grab yourself a couple of great maternity outfits! It’s easy to not feel beautiful all the time during a pregnancy. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Hannah and pat through several important milestones (their engagement, wedding, 1st anniversary). And this year I had the absolute honor of documenting this next big chapter in their lives as they prepare to welcome their first baby into the world! Hannah and pat’s sunrise maternity session on lake Michigan in Chicago so beautifully reflected their love for each other and the upcoming addition to their family. the soft sunrise tones, the skyline, and the textures of the beach were the perfect complement to this beautiful couple’s style and Hannah’s adorable baby bump!

Glitz and glam are great, but sometimes all you are looking for is a more relaxed vibe to inspire you?! We understand, and we have been there! The talented photographer Nicole Jansma caught both looks so perfectly, and we can confidently say we are major fans of her work!

California Farm Maternity Photos

This family of three–Michael, Carson, and their lab, Emma—is about to welcome a new member, a baby boy! To commemorate this wonderful time in their lives, they had Kat Murillo at KCM Photography capture their trio right in their backyard! The California farm maternity session was just what they wanted; natural, homey, and beautiful. The way the sunny-turned-stormy skies hit them is just right. We’re sure they will not only cherish these photos, but also the memories of this day for many years to come.

Kat shares…

Michael is a farmer, through and through, and Carson is just as steeped in agriculture, so when it came time to document their soon-to-be son, we could think of no better setting than the farmland outside their front door. From the levees of the delta to the unkempt corners of the fields, we took a ride and explored the property together, with their chocolate lab Emma.

I hope you enjoy the thunderstorm sky and before-golden hour brilliance we risked to catch those fluffy clouds. They wanted true blues and greens, and with the dramatic sky, I was happy to oblige.

Cactus Garden Maternity Photos

Oh what a beautiful day for a baby bump shoot! This cactus garden maternity session will take you through a desert wonderland and have you swooning all the while! The parents-to-be dote on their little nugget while wandering through Stanford’s dreamy botanical garden FULL of cacti. But don’t worry, there’s nothing prickly about these photos. Instead, they are full of love and life and beauty. Because what’s more beautiful than a beautiful pair celebrating a beautiful baby on the way!? We also think you’ll love this mama’s maternity style. She switches between embroidered white and golden yellow maxi dresses that show off her bump perfectly.

The mama to be Denise says…

When it comes to attractive, low maintenance houseplants, my go-to option is succulents. They played a major role in our wedding decor, can be found throughout our home, and succulent artwork lines the walls of our new baby’s nursery. In researching locations for our maternity shoot, a friend mentioned a cactus garden on the Stanford University Campus. I could never have imagined such a beautiful and perfect location. A quick google image search turned up photos sharing the most gorgeous mix of subtle desert colors–against that backdrop I knew a crisp white dress would pop. On the other end of the spectrum, I brought along a fun, vibrant, flowy, yellow dress that I knew would allow my little bump to shine!

Best Friend Maternity Photos in Malaga, Spain

Inspired by another joint maternity shoot on our baby blog last year, these besties – who not only are pregnant at the same time, but also got married within a month of one another – decided to take best friend maternity photos while on an annual girls trip/babymoon. Malaga, Spain served as the beautiful backdrop for the maternity photoshoot, captured by Anna Goryacheva. But the beautiful mothers to-be, hardly needed a pretty setting to produce beautiful maternity photos. They are both stunning and radiant as ever! Below Jingyi shares how she and Kary met and how they decided on taking best friend maternity photos. We say, why not?!

Jingyi says, Kary and I have been best friends when we met in Medical school when we were 18 years old. Since then we have travelled to many cities together, and try to make an annual trip somewhere around the world each year. We also lived with one another for a few years and luckily for us, that just brought us closer! =)

Two years ago, we got engaged within literally 5 days of one another. She stood by my side as my MOH as I said my ‘I do’s’ in California last year. I then returned the favor a few months later as her MOH as she celebrated her wedding in the Amalfi coast.

I was already pregnant whilst we were traveling to celebrate her birthday in New York earlier in May and remember feeling quite sick, but didn’t want to spoil anything, so I decided not to mention it to her. However, a few weeks later, even before I had a chance to tell her, she told me that she was also pregnant! What a happy coincidence that we are pregnant within one month of one another! boy for me, Girl for her, and we have already decided that they will be besties!

I actually saw a post from Inspired by This of the cutest friends maternity shoot earlier in the year and joked to Kary that we should do the same if we were ever pregnant at the same time! So when we decided to ditch tradition and go on babymoon with one another (instead of our husbands! lol) to Malaga last month, we planned to do a maternity shoot together.

Anna is a photographer whom moved from Ukraine to Malaga with her husband around 1 year ago. I found her on Instagram after lusting after her beautiful yet classic portraits. We decided to go around the old city first, then to a nearby beach which Anna had suggested. It brought such a contrast to the photos and we both had so much fun with Anna. The photos turned out so lovely and we were blessed with a stunning sunset after heavy rainfalls just the weekend before.

How cute are they!? Doesn’t everyone want to best friend maternity photos?
