What do you get when you cross a love of nature, a brand of bunnies, and a new baby? This stunning Boho Chic National Parks & Bunny inspired nursery. As a result, beautiful images of a space where any child would dream of growing up. The bright space is full of personalized details that bring the room to life. Each stuffed animal has a home and every piece of clothing a drawer. IKEA products transformed this space! Find your new nursery inspiration here. Every photo has us falling more in love with the style.

Photographer Ash Baumgartner tells the story behind this beautiful nursery,

A blend. A blend of two parents loves. When Ashley, a photographer, and Jake, a teacher, began to think about how they wanted to design the nooks and crannies of their one-bedroom apartment to make a little space for their coming Ellis Jay, they turned to two things – a blend of what they both love. For Jake, that meant his love of the outdoors, particularly National Parks, with an emphasis on boho style. For Ashley, that meant bunnies (her brand) and some classically chic pieces. Little did they know, Ashley and Jake would soon get the opportunity to design a full room for their little buddy, a dream for so many expecting mothers – and then get to put together their dream IKEA nursery.

What started as a vision for a corner of a one-bedroom apartment, grew into a vision for his room. It would be a room for play, for rest, for fun, for learning, for life, and more. After being gifted a handful of decor items and baby essentials at baby showers, they knew they needed to furnish his room once they moved. They turned to their local IKEA store to grab the essentials from a dresser to a crib, their favorite wall frames, and a few more storage and decor items. Through a partnership with IKEA, they were able to create the nursery of their dreams, a blend of boho and classic elements full of National Parks and bunnies galore.

When it came to furniture, they knew they wanted classic and simple pieces that could grow with Ellis. It was also important to them that these items included safety features such as wall mounts – something that even comes with the dresser – so they can ensure he is safe in his room by himself when he’s older. The crib also converts to a low rise crib and then a toddler bed when he’s ready.

Their favorite elements include the wall frames, his kids stool, the basket for blankets and stuffed animals, and the gold metal accents including his small mirror. They also love his pendant lamp for his reading nook! They are so grateful to have a space for Ellis that feels clean and simple, while also feeling like home. Cozying up to read books about nature and National Parks alongside his stuffed bunny collection might just be their favorite thing. You can have classic, chic, boho, and more all with the staple IKEA nursery pieces.

Any child would find their dreamland in this Boho Chic National Parks & Bunny inspired nursery! Are you looking for a new way to decorate your future nursery? You’ve come to the right place. Find even more inspiration with this Vibrant South Africa Inspired Nursery Tour!

One of our favorite topics to review is nurseries, and all things motherhood. It is one of the greatest gifts you can experience on Earth, and one topic we can all relate on. Today on the blog we have the privilege of sharing this heart warming vibrant South Africa inspired nursery tour. This nursery features a sweet pastel color palette and fun pops of vibrant colors like mustard yellow complimented by the stark contrast of the earth-toned furniture. This Vibrant South Africa inspired nursery tour is truly one we will look back over year after year to get re-inspired. Not only does it perfectly blend a sunset inspired color scheme with the contrasting blue’s to create a dreamy aesthetic. Every last detail was captured to perfection by the amazing Caitlin Alohilani Photography, don’t miss any of the details.

From Ariella’s mother, Natalie,

Ariella’s nursery was inspired by nature ~ a delicate balance of function and beauty. Raw woods, rattan finishes and soft autumn hues set the backdrop. These contors are colored in with personalized touches. These include watercolors created by Ariella’s dad and grandmother as well as favorite books from friends and family across the world. My bridal veil hangs over Ariella’s Nestig crib. There is a deliberate focus on textures for both ease of use and tactile stimulation, including a sheep skin, hand knitted blankets, Lovevery play gym and House of Noa play-mat. Reference to our home country, South Africa, can be found in our custom-design and handcrafted mobile ~ the African thunderstorm. Our Pehr llama mobile hangs close to the fiddle-leaf fig. It perfectly matches our Cuddle and Kind llama ~ a bespoke brand with a powerful cause. For me, no room is complete without a plant, for life breeds life. Where possible, I sourced sustainable products and supported local businesses. I want Ariella to grow up understanding the importance of protecting our planet and the power of simplicity. I wanted to create a space where Ariella and I can feel both the vibrancy of the African heartbeat and the peace of a Californian sunset.

Alright mamas – this one’s for you! We’re suckers for beautiful nurseries with thoughtful details, and this world-map inspired nursery is no exception. Everything in this room was inspired by a statement world map wallpaper moment, with all of the other decor choices falling into place based on the soft yet whimsical details found within the map! With airy neutral and blue tones, natural elements like rattan and wood, and cozy accents, this nursery is comfortable and inviting with the perfect amount of wanderlust! Scroll down to see what we loved most about this special room…and be sure to read all the way through to shop for these exact items!

Noah’s mom, Lindsay Surowitz from Weeknight Bite shares:

The inspiration for Noah’s nursery started with his world map wallpaper. My husband loves maps, so I thought it would be a fun element to bring into the nursery. I loved that this one felt whimsical and worldly with all the animals, planes, and hot air balloons setting the tone for a playful space. From the statement wallpaper we moved onto a selection of furniture, soft goods and decorative bits that really drove home the adventure theme. To help me create a cohesive, cozy, and wanderlust vibe, I enlisted the help of one of my best friends, Sierra Muller, who also happens to be an amazing interior designer. We had the best time picking out every special detail to create the perfect room for my future little traveler. We stayed in the blue and neutral world to keep things fresh and airy and then brought in a mix of natural elements like rattan, caning, and wood to create layers, texture, and dimension. Then for extra coziness and playtime practicality, we went with a soft, plush rug that pulled all the colors together and anchored the room.

There’s definitely a mix of splurges and budget-friendly items in the nursery. We fell in love with a crib that had the caning on the sides and figured since it converts to a toddler bed, we’d be using it for years to come. Then we saved on items like the framed animal prints and waited for sales to purchase his couch, chandelier, and changing table. I actually got the idea for those prints when I saw the ones at Restoration Hardware – those were so expensive, especially for a set of 6, so I was really excited to find some that were so similar and a total bargain from Etsy. These prints tied in perfectly with the animals on the wallpaper without being too busy and they were a perfect fit for the wall above the couch. The couch was a great find from Target – it’s actually outdoor furniture, which is perfect considering how messy things can get with a baby – and the cushions were surprisingly soft and comfortable for the outdoor pricetag. I love having the extra seating in the nursery for my husband or anyone who comes by to visit. Making the room inviting and comfortable was definitely a priority of ours! Aside from all the fun we’d be having in the nursery, we also hoped there would be plenty of sleep happening in there! We went with a custom window treatment with a beautiful woven wood shade to add texture to the room and linen drapes that completed the look and also keep it nice and dark for those coveted long naps!

At my baby shower, rather than bringing cards, all of my friends brought their favorite book and wrote a personal note to Noah inside. It was so special to fill his bookshelf with these books and to read their notes to him each day when we pick a book to read before bedtime. I love how this cozy corner of the room turned out! Noah’s nursery is definitely our happy place! It has a fun, wanderlust vibe while also being a peaceful place for playtime, reading, snuggling, and dreaming about future adventures.

When it comes to decorating your nursery, the decisions seem to flow together so easily! You love this antique mirror, and it perfectly complements the accents in this crib, and that rug just ties everything together so well. But when it comes time to transition your nursery to a toddler-appropriate bedroom, it can feel overwhelming. Where do you start? What should you keep and what should you get rid of? Which colors are too baby-ish? Which toys and books are more age appropriate for a growing little one? Well not to worry: we’re here to help! We’ve put together our list of our top 5 tips to help you seamlessly upgrade your little one’s nursery into a toddler bedroom where they can grow and play!

Image via @hana_signor

01. Start with the obvious changes.

Right away, there are some pretty obvious changes that will need to happen in your child’s nursery. First and foremost, let’s upgrade that crib to a toddler bed! It’s the most natural change to make in this transition, and it’s important to choose a bed that you feel comfortable with – whether that means opting for one with built in railings or adding on attachable rail guards. No matter which bed you end up choosing, we’re always partial to keeping organic bedding in every room in your home, especially for your little one!

02. Keep safety needs at the top of your list.

The most important thing to remember as you upgrade your child’s room is that they are naturally becoming more curious, and more prone to accidents! Take into consideration the fact that some of the key elements you might have included in the nursery might not be the safest options for curious hands. For example, cordless blinds are a worthwhile upgrade to your window coverings to avoid hazards associated with hanging cords. If you’re working with a budget for this room re-do, consider splurging first on any and all safety upgrades and then getting creative with your remaining budget for decor purposes.

03. Maximize the space for your child’s growing needs.

Let’s face it: toddlers do many things, but sitting still is hardly one of them! Your little one needs ample space to play and get creative in their new “big kid” room, so take advantage of the space you have. Where you kept a rocking chair could now be the perfect spot for a toy kitchen. A rocking horse in the corner could be replaced with a few cozy pillows for a quiet reading nook. Consider what your child’s interests are now and adjust the room to fit the activities they enjoy most right now!

04. Embrace your child’s interests.

From earthy boho wall hangings to modern neutral color tones like rust and forest green, you likely decorated your child’s nursery based on your own home decor preferences. At this age, though, your child is old enough to appreciate seeing their own interests incorporated into the room. Don’t panic: this doesn’t mean Daniel Tiger’s face has to be plastered on every surface! Simply take into consideration what your child is loving these days and find ways to incorporate this into the space in a tasteful way that will make both of you happy! Fun animal print pillows are the perfect touch for a jungle-loving child, while kiddos that are obsessing over space will appreciate glowing stars and celestial night-lights. There is a happy medium to be found that maintains your level of taste while allowing your toddler’s room to become an expression of their passions.

05. Minimize the work for yourself by making easy swaps.

We’re crossing every finger for you that diapers will soon be a thing of the past, and to encourage this transition, let’s get rid of that changing table once and for all! If you’ve been using a changing pad on top of a dresser, this should be an easy swap for you. Simply remove the changing top and upgrade the top of the dresser with kid-friendly pieces in its place. This is a great spot to add some items to complete the room’s styling that might need to stay out of reach of little fingers – think extra lighting, a framed photo or two of your family, and maybe an extra special heirloom like a passed-down teddy bear from your childhood or your child’s baby book.

If you’re reading this, it’s too late… Just kidding! Totally kidding! We know there may not feel like there’s enough time in the world to accomplish everything you need to get done before the baby comes, but trust us, you can and will, get it done! Out of all items on the pre-baby checklist, creating the nursery space has to be the most fun of them all! Not only do we live in a time where the sky is the limit for cute nursery decor, but you can also order almost anything with the click of a mouse without getting off the couch! So, if you happen to find yourself currently or anytime in the near future relaxing (which you deserve, by the way), let us do the work to help you build the nursery of your dreams! We’ve found the absolute best nursery must-haves that are worth every penny! Sit back, relax, maybe grab a snack and scroll your way to your #nesting goals!

A Cute and Comfy Rocking Chair

The picture of motherhood: you sit there in a warmly lit nursery, rocking your sleeping baby to sleep. Candles are glowing. Your hair is shiny. You can nearly fit back into your pre-baby jeans already. Life is good.

Okay, so that picture may be horribly unrealistic, but you can still have that picture-perfect rocking chair! Whether you’re trying to rock him/her to sleep or sitting there as you watch baby sleep, you need your chair to be as comfortable as it is chic, and this chair fits the bill perfectly. Let’s rock (a bye baby)!

Organic Crib Mattress

Of all the nursery must-haves, a space to get a good night’s sleep might just top the list. But you don’t just want baby to catch some Z’s (though oh how you want that), you also want them to do it in the healthiest and safest way. Choosing a quality crib mattress will make all the difference in all of this. You want to limit your baby’s exposure to chemicals during the day, and that policy shouldn’t switch off with the lights at night! Investing in a quality mattress is key for sound snoozes and sweet dreams for you and your little one!

A Reliable Woven Basket and Bassinet

The idea of “fashion over function” might fly out the window the moment your water breaks, but that’s no excuse to exclude fashion and function! That sweet spot where the two overlap is also where this beautiful basket and bassinet is. Not only will it take your nursery aesthetic up to a whole new level, but it’s also quality, so that means it’s another quality spot for your baby to sleep! With a bassinet, you will be the envy of new moms everywhere as they see your chic nursery and you get to see the back of your eyelids for a bit while your bundle of joy snoozes.

Plush and Comfy Area Rug

Okay, we said that these are all nursery must-haves, and they have been, but this is the must-haviest of nursery must-haves. You completely need a big, plush rug because you and your baby will be spending time on the floor. You can’t let their sweet little knees get carpet burn when they’re learning to crawl, and you don’t want to feel itchy when you inevitably fall asleep spend a lot of time on this rug. Save yourself the drama and discomfort and add a plush rug to your cart today!

An Easily Accessible Bookshelf

As if your nursery wasn’t cute enough, now you’ve been given all these books to put in it that make you cry every time you read them (just blame it on the hormones). You can’t just not display these precious books, so we recommend you go ahead and invest in a bookshelf. Not only should it be cute (we don’t waste time on things that aren’t cute), but also easy to access that way once baby turns toddler, they can easily go over to shelves and pick out a selection for you to read to them at night!

This earth toned, desert inspired nursery couldn’t be cuter… and neither could baby girl Stevie James. The little nugget has a room all to herself full of beautiful decor, yes, but even more-so with warmth and love. The joy she brings to her parents is evident in the way they look at her. We hope that joy carries through the photographs to you and not only puts a smile on your face, but maybe leaves you with a few ideas for your own baby’s room. Enjoy!

Desert Nursery Decorated in Earth Tones - Inspired by This

Stevie James’s Mom, Brittaney, shares…

It was so fun putting together Stevie’s nursery, I am really into simple, minimalist design with small pops of color. The colors that were used in her nursery were all inspired by the picture above the dresser that was taken in Joshua Tree by CJ’s sister. She took that photo close to 2 years ago and I have always been obsessed with it. So, when thinking of a “theme” for Stevie’s room that photo really led the way for everything. It was important to add personal touches into her room and make it a place that I would also enjoy spending time in, since I knew I would be in there A LOT. Ha!

Stevie James middle name is so special to us because she was named after my cousin Brandon James who passed away April of 2018. Me & my husband had been trying to get pregnant for close to a year when we finally found out that we had conceived and our due date was going to be April 2019. We knew he had a little hand in it, so we decided right then boy or girl the middle name was going to be James after Brandon. There were several things leading up to her birth that made the connection to Brandon very real, and she even ended up being born on Brandon’s first born’s birthday, April 25th. Every time we saw Brandon he was wearing black & white converse (I really can’t think of another time I saw him wearing any other shoes—he even wore converse when he got married). So, the baby converse in Stevie’s room next to her custom wood sign with her name on it is a special way for us to remember him.

At my baby shower, instead of doing a traditional guest book, my best friends had baby blocks for my family & friends to write personal messages to Stevie on, which is so special to us since most of our family & friends are not local. Now, it feels like she is always surrounded by them and reminded of how loved she is.

All in all, adding personal touches but keeping it simple, makes me feel comforted and relaxed when I am in her nursery. I am a big fan of the desert and I loved being able to incorporate that in a way that wasn’t overdone while at the same time keeping everything very neutral and feminine.

Think pink camouflage can’t be chic? Think again! This rose colored nursery is as chic as can be, and yes, camouflage is present in a BIG way, as in adorning every wall. And we love it! The wallpaper inspired the room and created an almost-neutral backdrop for Dina Bandman to work her magic. If you recognize the designer’s name, it’s probably because the last room we featured by her, this Lemondrop nursery, is one of our all time favorites. Her work is always fun, fresh, and out of the box. Yet, somehow the nurseries, even when filled with color and ornate decor, are still incredibly calming and elegant. Read on to see the rest of this sweet nursery and hear from Dina all about it.

1. Tell us a little about the homeowners and the whimsical wallpaper you used in their nursery.

This nursery was designed for one of the founders of Aqualille (a fabulous new wall covering firm based in New York). Their wall coverings are gorgeous – all hand painted and absolutely stunning. This installation was one of Aqualille’s first so we definitely wanted it to be special.

2. What was your inspiration for this room and where did you start?

My client generally leans towards neutral decor and modern styles, but after learning she was having a baby girl, she wanted to make an exception and so she was ALL about a pink princess theme for this room. We blended this concept with more modern elements to create a baby’s room that was traditionally pink and fit for a princess, but a modern princess with a fierce sense of style. The pink Camo pattern of the wall covering brings a fresh twist to the space and the streaks of silver throughout the pattern add a serene feeling to the room.

3. How does this design represent your personal design philosophy?

This design really embodies my philosophy of blending traditional pieces with fresh new designs to breathe life into traditional schemes. This room definitely has its traditional moments – e.g., the canopy over the crib and the traditional trim and tassels on the drapery, but I’ve added more modern elements to keep it interesting such as the lucite crib, the lacquered dresser and of course the Camo wallpaper!

4. Tell us more about that lucite crib! Why do you love working with lucite?

I did indeed design it! The crib made its debut at the San Francisco Showcase in 2018 and this was my first opportunity to install it in a client’s home. I love working with lucite because it is such a statement without actually competing with anything else.

5. The trim on the window coverings is beautiful! Where is it from and why did you choose it?

I am most certainly a “more is more” kind of gal and I love window treatments with special trimmings. The client and I fell in love with this Fortuny print of little lions so that her daughter will grow up to be fierce.  The actual drapery is from Holland and Sherry – the perfect ballet slipper pink to complement the Fortuny fabric that we made into trim.  I finished it off with a traditional tassel from Samuel & Sons.

6. Tell us about that statement chandelier!

My favorite Paris Flea Market find!  I was traveling in Paris looking for design inspiration and stumbled into Galerie Glustin.  When I spotted the chandelier, I knew it was what the nursery needed.  I absolutely love it’s hand blown glass butterflies in alternating in shades of pink, purple, and white.

7. Were there any particular challenges on the project? How did you overcome them?

Deciding on the perfect size for the chandelier was a challenge.  I wanted it large enough to be impactful but I didn’t want it to overwhelm the room.   They say “inches matter” and I can assure you, they do! The chandelier is definitely a statement and its 24  inche diameter was absolutely the right decision in the end. But hanging this 160 lb beauty proved to be a bit trickier – it took the muscle power of two electricians and one painter to finally hang it!

8. What are your favorite elements of this room’s design?

I truly love everything we sourced for this room but if I had to pick one,  it would be the Caroline Irving canopy over the crib. I never had a canopy growing up so shortly after college when designing my bedroom I invested in my own canopy bed using a Christopher Farr Peonies fabric.  I do find myself canopying as many beds as I can, especially for little girls – it just feels so appropriate.

The light and airy feel of this room brought an overwhelming sense of calm to our souls the second we saw it, or maybe it was the sweet baby girl’s face. Either way, we can’t help but adore this beautiful pink and white nursery for baby Lyla. The touches of pink show up in the abstract artwork above her crib, the baskets on her floor, pattern of her sheet, and adorable flamingo on the wall. If you’re asking us, it is just the right amount of color. Scroll on to take a tour of the bright white nursery thanks to gorgeous imagery from Kati Mallory Photography!

Kati Mallory shares, Shooting nurseries is always one of my favorite parts of a newborn session. There’s something so sacred about incorporating elements of these tiny babies’ rooms into the session that tugs at my heartstrings. These rooms are where their mamas dreamt of them for many months, and it is such a blessing to see all the hard work new parents put into the space come full circle with their bundle of joy being photographed there.

Baby Lyla’s nursery was one of my favorites that I’ve shot in during my career. Light and airy ,with fun pops of color, it was the most beautiful nursery! I thought it was the perfect balance of playful and elegant, just the right space for a little girl. The artwork hanging above the crib (done by artist Michelle Armas) and the plush animal heads on the wall, gave the room an elevated feel, while still maintaining its youthful design.

We had to reschedule the session a couple of times, as Lindsey was recovering from Lyla’s birth, but it was worth the rescheduling 100 times over! I hope you enjoy this session and that you are as inspired as I was!
