Remodeling a home is a big project, and daunting to some. We understand a remodel isn’t for everyone and most choose to move into something bigger. However, when you find yourselves wanting to stay in your current home, but you’re running out of space, you might choose to take a leap of faith and start the remodel process. This Minnesota home remodel might just convince you to explore those options for your own home! The styling and design is airy and organic with pops of subtle color and textures. This home tour will without a doubt, fill you with inspiration to add subtle changes to your current home or office space.

Dwell & Gather Interior Design shares,

“A very busy family of six in Deephaven, MN found themselves bursting out of the seams in their home. They hired us for their three story addition and full home remodel for hard and soft selections throughout. Both the husband and wife love to host, so kitchen details were a huge focus piece. Their kitchen is only 208 sq/ft, so planning was key and using high end hidden appliances, high end plumbing, hardware and lighting makes a huge impact to the space they have in their Minnesota home remodel!”

The interior designer continues,

“Their style is traditional with a smidge of coastal. He likes edgy and she likes airy and organic. That being said, we kept it airy with the perimeter in a paint that has a gray undertone accompanied with gray quartz on the perimeter. However, we pushed her out of her comfort zone and made him so excited with the beautiful veining in the quartz on the island. The island has a precious basin edge for a traditional feel, while the perimeter quartz keeps a clean ridgeline. Again, playing with both preferences.

The colors of the island veining is used as the color story throughout the home. The challenge was to get all the storage needs (including kids art supplies), within the kitchen. As well as having an extra trash/recycle by the sliding door, leading outside for easy access when entertaining. We converted a closet just behind the kitchen, close to the staircase leading down to the basement into an extended pantry where all the larger supplies (think rice cooker) are stored.”

The interior designer continues with the details,

“The handmade Zellige tile was a must have! We lovingly asked to place it in a “random” lay (which can be very difficult to do). The reason for this is to eliminate a grid pattern to the grout. The corbels placed to finish the sides of the range and coffee nook have a curved detail that is mimicked as the cabinetry “feet”. The beautiful hand spun legs on the dark stained 9’x5’ island bring so much warmth and seating! There’s even a pull-out pantry, hidden coffee cabinet and space to prep on the perimeter.

One would not notice at first, but the repetition of the round shape repeats throughout the entire project. Here, in the kitchen, the hardware on the cabinets have this small and subtle repeat. The focal point looking in from the dining room is the huge range hood flanked with the beautiful pendants. The flow of this house makes for a perfect host home now that there is a circular pattern of living spaces all centered around their kitchen.”

If you’re looking to brighten up your home or work space, we have all the inspiration you need with these 10 amazon home finds!

Contrary to popular belief, renovations don’t always have to be daunting! Libby Rawes, owner and lead designer at Sharp + Grey Interiors knows a thing or two about essential renovation steps that will make your next home project a breeze. Whether you work with an interior designer or not, these four essential renovation tips will give insight into the order of operations for achieving refined, live-able, and lasting results without the overwhelm.

Goal Setting

At the very beginning of the process, it’s essential to get clear about your ultimate home goals. After all, we can’t get you to your destination if we don’t know what it is. There are two sides to this: the functional aspect of how your home works and aesthetic, the way it looks and feels.

Here are 4 main questions to ask yourself before diving into the first step:

  1. What does your morning routine look like? Is there a better way to streamline the process so that the kids have all of their belongings in one organized area?
  2. Does your family cluster in the kitchen? If so, does the layout seem crowded or awkward?
  3. Are there any rooms that lack purpose or feel like wasted space at the moment?
  4. Is there enough space for comfortably gathering and entertaining guests? What do those special events look like?

Planning Your Home Renovation

The plan should define the scope of your project, project your timeline, understand the trades involved, set your overall investment, and roughly map out how that investment will be allocated to various aspects of the project (permitting, labor, materials, furnishings, etc.).

Tip: Whether you will be working with an interior designer during your project or not, it is essential that you create a plan for your renovation. Without a solid plan in place, your project can lead to wasted funds, costly mistakes, an unfinished project, or one that doesn’t turn out the way you want it to. I can’t recommend this enough.

Developing the Design

Once we know your vision and we have an overall renovation plan, it’s time to start the design. This is where your vision begins to come to life…

  • Start with the furniture layout and floor plan for the home. This is essential to creating a home that fits your lifestyle. Even if your walls will be staying where they are, imagine bringing in your new dining table and then not having electrical wiring for a beautiful chandelier over it! Not ideal. Plan first, whether you’re doing this on your own or with a professional.
  • From there you can dig into the details and start sourcing the exact materials, furnishings, and fixtures that will be going into your home. By creating an intentional plan at the beginning, all of your sourcing choices will be made through the lens of design, producing a cohesive and professional-level end result that is tailored just to you.

Installation & Reveal

  • You’ve made it to the last and possibly most important part of the process: the furnishings and accessories. The furnishings that really add the finishing touches, bringing the entire space to life.
  • Don’t skip it, and be sure to plan for it from the beginning so you have it included in your renovation investment. This will be the most fun part where you can piece together everything you ordered, and sure, some of your favorite family pieces too. Style your new space with accessories that make it feel personal, layered, and meaningful! Enjoy the final reveal!

We hope these renovation tips help you transform your space! Are you looking for even more home inspiration? Check out this Spectacular Bohemian-Meets-Farmhouse Home Tour!

We’ve all wondered how to make spaces in our home pop! LIVDEN has got us covered. As a company centered on sustainability, accessibility, and originality, you know you are bringing the best into your home. The tiles are made from recycled materials while displaying a stunning array of patterns. As if the product is not enough, they are here to teach you all about using tile in small spaces. Here, we specifically look at its use in and around fireplaces to make them stand out. You may have thought you’d seen it all, but these tips will have you rethinking your space very soon.

Tip 1: Amplify Accent Colors

Decorative fireplace tile is the perfect opportunity to amplify the accent colors in your overall design palette. Look for a pattern tile that predominantly displays one or more of your accent colors to reinvigorate your fireplace design!

STELLA Collection Native Tile in the Fog Colorway on Recycled Polar Ice Terrazzo

Tip 2: Create Contrast

Pack a punch with your fireplace design by selecting a decorative tile that showcases a bold, modern design in a colorway that contrasts the other elements in your design plan.

Tip 3: Try Large-Scale Designs

Don’t be afraid of large-scale tile designs. For example, a 16×16 tile design can not only turn your fireplace into a stunning focal point, but it can also make your entire space feel much larger than it is. With a large-scale tile design, you can easily play with proportions while still making your fireplace feel fresh.

STELLA Collection Single Flower Tile in the Charcoal Colorway on Recycled Polar Ice Terrazzo

Tip 4: Try Blending Materials

Looking for a budget-friendly way to update your fireplace? Try strategically blending a small amount of patterned tile with other neutral materials, like wood or plain Terrazzo tile. With a pattern tile that really pops, you don’t have to use a lot of tile to create the visual impact you’re looking for!

Tip 5: Choose Sustainable Materials

We are going to let you in on a little secret: you don’t have to sacrifice design for sustainability! You can add an element of sustainable design and extra visual interest by using modern recycled materials. For example, LIVDEN offers over 50 unique tile designs on tiles made from 65-100% recycled materials.

STELLA Collection Native Tile in the Fog Colorway on Recycled Polar Ice Terrazzo

Tip 6: Make a Statement

Working with a large surface area for your fireplace tile design? Consider turning your fireplace into a piece of living art by tiling it with a contemporary, patterned tile. Regardless of whether you choose a bold, vibrant colorway or a subdued classic color combo, this tile design application will create a central visual interest point in your space that will arrest and delight anyone passing by.

Tip 7: Do the Unexpected

When you think of tiling a fireplace, you probably think about tiling the front-facing façade. But that’s not all you can tile! Create an unexpected design moment in your space by adding a tile area rug to the floor just around your fireplace, like the image below.

ELLY Collection Floret Tile in the Rose Colorway on Recycled Polar Ice Terrazzo

Even if you do not have a fireplace, these tiles and tips can be used all over the home. LIVDEN tiles are stunning in look and creation. We can’t wait to get our hands on some to elevate our own home design. Looking for more inspiration about the perfect change for your home? We’re always looking for ways to make home feel more home-y. Over the past few weeks, we’ve discovered the perfect additions. Georgianna and Giusseppi creates candles with a timeless look that add a hint of luxury into any space. The handmade creations have a variety of captivating smells that are sure to match your ideal feeling. As a result, their candles transformed our space into the cozy oasis we have been dreaming of. From the bedside table to our work-from-home desk, and even the reading nook, these candles bring something special.

Image via @gandg.home

Winding Down In Our Bedroom At Night

Having a candle on your bedside table is the perfect way to create dim lighting in order to wind down in the evenings. Here, we chose to try out a cozy candle scent, Cashmere Sweater to be exact. Doesn’t that just sound cozy? This candle is soft with warm notes of amber and patchouli. It creates a comforting atmosphere that is perfect for settling into your bed at the end of a long day. Try to keep things screen free – avoid TV or your phone. You may even find a new hobby in meditation, reading, or even journaling. These candles transformed our space for the night in a way that makes us eager to go to bed.

Energizing Our Work-From-Home Desk

Energy is key here! It’s so tempting, when working from home, to head to the couch or crawl back in bed, so find little ways to keep your work-from-home desk setup feeling like an actual workspace. We chose the Meadowlark scent to brighten up our desk. The notes of mint, lemon, and eucalyptus keep everything feeling fresh and vibrant to keep us sharp. With the candle in its place, there is plenty of room to put a few other things on your desk that make you feel happy. A few framed photos, chic office ware, even a hand lotion could leave you working in a space you genuinely enjoy.

Warming Up Our Reading Nook

Whether you’re curling up with a thrilling mystery or a scandalous love story, having a set space in your home to settle in with a good book can truly help you dive into the story and leave the world behind. We added the Speakeasy scent to this space. The intoxicating and lingering scents of teakwood create a mysterious ambiance that transforms this little corner into a quiet hideaway. At this point, the only thing left to add is a soft blanket and a cup of tea to have the perfect reading space.

Your home is most likely the space you spend the most time in. Make it a place that adds to your life and captures who you are. These candles transformed our space, and we are sure they could do the same for you. With so many scents to choose from, you may discover the perfect new change you needed.

Today on the blog, we are sharing with you the most fabulous interior design we’ve encountered this holiday season. We know you’ll be obsessed too.

01. Frosted Blue Interior & Decor

02. A Cozy Neutral Christmas

Image via @lizmarieblog

The Christmas season can bring bold bright colors and crazy festive decor into the house, which may not be your style. If bold interiors aren’t your thing, there are ways to neutralize your home. For example, this cozy neutral interior keeps the Christmas spirit alive without all of the extra decor.

03. A Green & Ivory Christmas

Image via @homewithhollyj

First of all, this green and ivory holiday interior is absolutely stunning. We cannot get enough of the high ceilings and large window frames. In addition to the layout, the ivory tree and green accent decor are what truly bring in the Christmas spirit. Another thought we had while observing this interior was how much it reminds us of the Grinch, in the best way possible. Therefore, this living room would make for the perfect Christmas movie viewing party. That’s a guarantee!

04. Simple & Luxe

Image via @thehouseofsilverlining

Certainly, a home with taste, elegance, and luxury is a requirement by many. As a result, another example of stunning Christmas interior design is this simple and luxurious home. The tree is fabulous and is the staple piece of the room. In addition to the tree, the tall ceilings and light wood floors add a lighthearted essence into the home. So, it’s easy to say after all of this, we are obsessed.

05. Modern Christmas Living Room

Image via @whitepicketfarmhouse

The modern farmhouse style is coming, and it’s coming in hot. Certainly, this modern Christmas living room is no exception. We adore the contrast between the white stockings and the green fireplace. We are also sure that snuggling up by that fireplace will put you in the Christmas spirit.

06. Minimal Holiday Interior

Image via @amyepeters

Are you feeling minimalistic this year? If so, look at this gorgeous interior design that is clean and effortless. Sometimes simplicity speaks louder than boldness. In this case, we think the simplicity speaks volumes. Here, the Christmas tree is the heart of the home, which brings in all of the Christmas spirit.

After all of these designs, we are sure you are feeling the Christmas spirit. Between some bolder holiday decor, and other simplified styles, there is bound to be a interior that suits your taste.
